Bird over Sand - Creative Access Resource for the Cardiff Museum

Mr. Heron, as inspired by Sir Graham Sutherland's Bird over Sand (1975) available at Cardiff National Museum.

Fully tactile and touchable and also flaps its' wings if you push its body upwards! Intended for blind and low-vision visitors to interact with when viewing the original painting. Made with cardboard, felt, faux feathers, faux fur, acrylic paints, glass beads and tissue paper.

Bird over Sand, 1975 is an oil painting by Sir Graham Sutherland depicting a crane flying over the coast of Wales. As part of my university work, I have chosen to create a creative access resource for blind museum visitors to go alongside the painting. My resource is a direct representation of the flying crane which flaps its wings when it is pushed upwards.
